Ordinance to Regulate Group Homes

College Acres – Woodland Hills

May 22, 2011

IMPORTANT UPCOMING HEARING ON GROUP HOMES !!!

The L.A. City Council is scheduled to vote on the Community Care Ordinance that would provide “some” regulation of group homes. Of concern to most of us are the “sober living” homes, which in a number of documented instances have brought crime into residential neighborhoods. Melody Acres, College Acres and Walnut Acres are magnets for these homes due to our large lots, and each of our neighborhoods has experienced increased crime as a result.

The hearing date is as follows:

10 am on June 1, 2011 (meeting dates subject to change, so check with me!)
John Ferraro Council Chamber Room 340
City Hall 200 N. Spring Street, Los Angeles 90012.

Whether you can be present at this meeting or not, please call AND email Councilman Dennis Zine and let him know what your experience has been with sober living homes in our neighborhood. Councilman Zine’s contact information is (213) 473-7003 phone and (213) 485-8988 Fax. His email address is dennis.zine@lacity.org.

It is imperative that as many homeowners as possible show up. Many of the residents of these sober living homes have no jobs and nothing better to do, so they show up in force to these meetings.
